To begin with, the WWF is still waiting for some of their undercarders to return to action. Take The Blue Meanie for example. Here is a guy that wasn't ever injured but had to lose some weight for the WWF to take him back. Now that he has lost some weight and he is in great shape, the WWF is looking to bring him up from Memphis and have him start working the Metal and Jakked matches. It is conceivable that one day down the road, this man could be vying for titles such as the European title and the Intercontinental title. There is no doubt in the WWF's creative direction that The Blue Meanie can't work his way up to being a very contributive member of their roster.
As for actual injuries, perhaps the most anticipated recovery of any WWF superstar is that of Steve Austin. After making an appearance at Backlash, it was obvious to many that Austin still needs to take some time and get back into wrestling shape. Also, the latest on his condition is that his doctors found that he has not been healing correctly in a minor section of his neck and that if he ever wants to be back at 110% he would need to take another six to eight weeks in addition to the time that he is rehabbing right now to get his neck in proper alignment. I have to think that Stone Cold will take all the precautions necessary in order to make a return to the ring. All in all, it is looking more like Austin will be able to return at Survivor Series and not SummerSlam.
Going down from Austin, The Big Show is scheduled to get arthroscopic knee surgery to remove some of his torn cartilage in his knee. In this process, they inject the arthroscope and a small saw-like mechanism and they basically shave away the torn area and suck it out with a tube. There is also another part to the procedure that you can opt to get if you want where they shave down the remaining area to smoothen it and insert a special type of fluid to protect the cartilage, but this is a new procedure and might not be available wherever the Big Show is going. I know about all of this because of my neighbor, brother, and many friends getting the surgery and myself badly needing to get it done. All in all, with the Big Show's size, he should be back in action in about seven or eight weeks.
