ECPW Television Tapings, Kanyon Interview, ECW/TNN Opinion
Some interesting ECPW Television Tapings. Quite frankly, I wasn't as impressed as I have been in the past by these guys. Granted, there was some great action and the heel that everyone loves to hate, The Kodiak Bear, was in action after missing the last show, the tapings were lacking a certain something. Maybe it was the fact that they post a spotlight in one part of the building that is blinding to everyone on the opposite side. Maybe it was because both Little Guido and Ace Darling were in attendance, but not wrestling. Maybe it was the fact that the ECPW has a thing for having their arena filled with family and friends of the wrestlers (in the good seats mind you). Whatever it was that was missing from the television tapings was quite profound and very noticable. However, there was a great evening gown match as well as another great performance by one of my new favorite wrestlers (and if YOU saw his act, you would love it too) Dave Delicious. Also, there was the great performances of the Great Cerenzio, One Man Mike Dell, The Kodiak Bear, and the antics of Hansen Spicolli (the ECPW referee) to add to the night. Maybe their next show will be a little better.
This is from the great people (one Mr. Rolando Cruz!) at The Big Show Radio:
"I had Chris Kanyon on my show today (6/29). We talked about everything from the big fall from the triple cage to the Positively Kanyon angle. We talked about the comparisons between his bump and Mick Foley's. Chris Also talked about Owen Hart fall from the same arena. He also discussed his position on the booking committee. And his feelings toward WCW directions. To listen to the interview click HERE or cut and paste http://bigshowradio.00sports.com"
Thanks to Rolando Cruz for that!
I'm sure that you've all heard by now that the ECW has been cancelled on TNN. Both companies have given their public statements on the matter with the TNN company stating that they were not impressed and the results ratings-wise were not there and the ECW backing up their own claim of no help from the TNN Network. At this point my comment on the situation is..."duh." The TNN group wasn't going to pump money into a group that they really didn't trust from the start and the ECW should have expected nothing from a company that knows nothing about wrestling. Both sides were just in a bad situation. The one thing that is good about the WWF going to TNN is that they are obviously the stronger of the two groups (that being TNN and the WWFE) and they will undoubtedly dictate the pace of their action as well as their show content.
From the Ross Report:
"Bob Holly suffered a broken arm wrestling with Kurt Angle on SmackDown! when King Kurt's moonsault went awry. Bob had surgery in Florida Thursday to place pins and a steel plate in his arm and will be unable to compete for about eight weeks. Hardcore will be back on TV, however, long before that. Bob is a very tough, hard-working hand who could be a top-level performer in the WWF."
