Thoughts on RAW/TNA

Yo my readers, it’s been a long time hasn’t it? Well I do sometimes tend to lay in the shadows as you all know, so do forgive me but I’m here now so let’s get right down to it, shall we?
First let me apologize for my lack of columns lately, I’ve been working all the time, and my girlfriend is getting really far along, and it’s almost time for my bundle of joy to arrive so I’ve been busy. But anyway, let’s get down to wrestling.
Is it just me, or has Maven gone from a 2 to a 9 on the character and performance scale? One week he isn’t on television then the next he’s Main Eventing and for the current moment he still is. I think it’s about time WWE did something with Maven he may be young and green but I think Maven has serious promise and if WWE doesn’t screw up on him, he will really go somewhere one day.
It seems to me that WWE truly has a bunch of apes sitting at table’s writing a lot of what they are putting out, but if that were truly the case things may be a lot better. I’ll admit in my opinion since Survivor Series Raw has been good, really good as a matter of fact. But, WWE can establish all the feuds and all the storylines the want, things won’t work as well as they have until they establish new characters more. Triple H is great, but no one wants to see a guy who has had the title 9 times win it against someone who only had it once and was barely in his first month of having it. I can’t begin to explain how painful it was for Triple H to beat Randy Orton for the title the night before I went to Raw, it made me so pissed I almost didn’t go. Three straight years of Live Shows with Triple H as the champion is a little much.
I will however give JBL his credit as I have before, the guy has worked really hard for WWE since pre-Attitude era, and I remember when he was Justin Hawk Bradshaw, who else does? Go look it up if you don’t you’ll see how hard the guy has worked, he deserves his time, those who thinks he doesn’t, aren’t into wrestling for the passion of it, Just the politics and who you want as champion, not who SHOULD be champion. IF anyone else deserves it more on the Smackdown! Roster The Undertaker has my vote, give me a break the guy is the longest running member of the active roster, look at the stat list, he made The Hell in a Cell famous, the Casket Match, Buried Alive, He beat Hogan for the Title on his one year anniversary with the company, and not only all of that, this is more than likely going to be his true last run, let him have one more, he deserves it.
The IC title is in great hands Shelton Benjamin is a great athlete, and I love watching him perform, and eventually the IC Title isn’t going to be good enough. He’s already beaten Triple H and Ric Flair in some really great matches. I could really see Shelton having some great feuds with the likes of Tyson Tomko, Batista, Maven, Steven Richards, ya I know what all of you are thinking, go get an ECW tape and actually watch the guy wrestle not be a fucking joke on WWE. If you’ve seen this guy wrestle you won’t argue with me. WWE has a chance to really bring back true meaning to the IC title there is a full set of next generation stars that would give the belt true meaning if WWE gets them down on the mat and let’s them go old school and wrestle for it, the way it used to be, the way it should be. That might even bring back some of the older viewers the once had but lost do to all the worthless crap they sometimes dish out.
Eugene….man, this guy is great I remember a time when a lot of people were saying how much of a joke he was, having a wrestling background myself, I know the formula. It can be complicated at times, this is true, look at a guy like the great wrestling ability, but he was pure character, his character masked his wrestling ability everyone got so into what he said. Then look at a guy like 80’s Hogan, not much ability, pure character, no one cared how great of a wrestler he was, Austin great ability, great character. People fed off of him, some people still do.
But back to Eugene, The guy has “it” he always has, ever since the first time I saw him wrestle I’ve felt it, people may think otherwise because he “copies” moves from all of his heroes. That’s just his character he isn’t supposed to do other people’s moves perfectly, pay more attention to him when he is “Wrestling” then you will see “it” if you truly look. If WWE ever let him go before they really use him, it would be one of their bigger mistakes they’ve made over the years. Whenever Regal and Eugene have a segment I just know I’m going to laugh the guys have great chemistry together.
How rude of me I’m talking about all this wrestling yet I haven’t mentioned a thing about Survivor Series. I’ve heard a lot of people say it bombed, I’ve heard some say it was ok. But I think the Classic Style matches were put together very nicely. Especially on the Raw side, it was done in 80’s fashion the top face alone against the two top heels. I loved the way it was ended truly great. I knew Randy Orton was going to win the second I saw him alone with Edge/Triple H. The rest of the card though wasn’t as great as it should have been no major titles were defended which really brought the whole morale of the show down.
WWE really has themselves in a bind, their shows aren’t selling out anymore because people are starting to lose interest of the same old product we have come to know too much, back in the day WWE had a reason to pick themselves up off the ground each week WCW knocked them down.
Each time Vince got knocked down he picked himself up, then Vince found guys to carry his ass and put the boots to WCW then bury them in the process. Now it seems Vince has knocked himself down, and maybe he is a little too old to get back up on his own because he has no reason to get up, he has no one to compete with anymore.
That is why I hope TNA finds the one spark to light the flame in their company, not only to get Vince going again if that’s even possible now, but because those guys in TNA have worked really hard and deserve to be in a company like TNA where they can be treated/pushed with respect and still do what they love to do.
Until TNA finds that spark WWE will be in a funk, and TNA will entertain all of us at about only 75 percent when they are able to go so much further. They Have such an in-depth roster with pure talents, pure young guys fresh young ability not everyone has seen yet. I was hooked on TNA ever since my little brother made me watch the first Ultimate X, that's back when I didn't even know TNA existed. Thanks to him I have a fallout to whenever WWE goes down the shitter which is 70 percent of the time. But like I said TNA has it all except that one final missing spark, that is the only thing they need to light the flame that won't if it ever does, burn out for a really long time.
Anyone have any idea what the missing spark might be? I’d love to hear all of your ideas. But it’s getting late and since I only watched Raw this week I’m going to go watch the Smackdown tape, but thanks again for reading I do appreciate those of you who still take the time to read what I’ve got to say.
