The Royal Rumble Game!
January 3, 2008

Happy New Year everyone!

Best wishes from the wife and I here. We are really excited about this New Year and all the blessings that are coming our way; like our first born. I cannot believe we have been married for two months already! Happy Anniversary to the wife says Oscar.

We get set to kick off this year with my favorite PPV, the Royal Rumble. It has been a tradition for the family to play the Royal Rumble. This year we have a new entry, my wife! We all draw 5 entries each and that wrestler becomes your representative in the Rumble. It makes the match that much more fun for us because we start rooting for our only chances to win, even if it means cheering for Barry Horrowitz!

I have won every year (I have been accused of knowing which number will win) except for the last two. I even did my own column version of the game and I let the readers play by picking the winning number. The prize was a copy of the Royal Rumble DVD. Dave from Manchester is probably watching that DVD as we speak...

This year I intend to do the same. I had so many entries last year. The problem I ran into was that once someone picked a number, I was not allowing any more entries with that pick. So you could imagine back and forth emails with the participant giving him the only choices left. To prevent that, I am allowing you to pick any number you want but you must name the winner (wrestler). If more than one of you guessed correctly, the tie breaker will be the final two wrestlers chosen. If neither is correct, I will award the match to the one whose wrestler lasted longer.

Head cramp? Let’s recap.

1. Pick the winning number (#27, most Royal Rumble wins)
2. Pick the wrestler (i.e. Triple H)
3. Final Two (i.e. Triple H and Ric Flair)

Winner gets the 2008 Rumble DVD as soon as it's available, even if you live in England baby!!

Here's an example of how this goes... The most important thing is the number. If 20 people guess the number right, I will look at who they chose. If the winner is Umaga for example, and 3 people chose him correctly I move on to the next tie breaker which is who they eliminated (the final two wrestlers).

Email me for the complete set of rules if that is confusing...

DUE DATE: SATURDAY, JANUARY 26 BEFORE MIDNIGHT STRIKES (BEFORE THE DAY OF THE ROYAL RUMBLE PPV)

The wife and I will be in attendance at the Royal Rumble. It will be her first PPV and my first Royal Rumble. It’s like our honeymoon all over again! After the lack luster WM 20 here at MSG (Can’t believe I paid THAT much for my ticket!!!), I am hoping for this to make up for it.

On a reflective note, time passes by quickly so make sure to make the best out of every situation 2008 might bring into your life. Grapple with the biggest problems and figure-four your way to a happy life. I really mean that. Ric Flair is going to retire soon and while that might be for the better I cannot deny how much I will miss ol’ naitch.

It seems they are building towards Triple H vs. Ric Flair at WM, but you know WWE likes to swerve the net. While bringing in Sting for his last match would be fun, Triple H is the choice that makes sense in terms of torch passing. The guy is the modern day Flair. He has taken his character and shaped it that way so it’s fitting. Would I like to see it? No.

The wife thinks they should have the younger guys seek to be the ones to ‘retire’ Flair only to fail. This can lead many directions and I look forward to the ride. Sure hope it’s a better pay off than Hornswoggle.

Cage is up against Angle. I cannot say that I love TNA, but from the looks of this match and the fact that I am a PEEP member of the Christian Coalition, I am considering buying the PPV. The wife is barely even aware that there is a world just outside the WWE. We just got done with WCW 101, what do you want from me? I can’t teach it all in one night, plus, it always ends with us having other discussions….

And that about does it for me this week. Not as compelling as can be but having a wife is real hard work. She gave me a Title belt for Christmas and I have to defend it every night of the week if you know what I mean. She makes me work and books me rough. Except maybe Tuesdays, it’s hard to concentrate after watching Big Daddy Tits and Henry sweating like hot pigs on Sci Fi. I can only imagine if she decides to book me like Russo…I dunno about you but I pass.

Until next time…I am grateful it wasn’t the HARDCORE title.
